The benefits of heating oil
Oil heating is one of the most efficient forms of heating. It provides a fast, comfortable heat source in the most frigid weather. Since heating oil burns at high temperatures, the desired degree of heat can be achieved quickly.
Stand-alone
Gravity-operated oil-burning stoves. They are never affected by power outages. For furnaces or central boilers, a low-power generator can easily provide backup in the event of a power outage.

Hot-air heating systems with high-performance filters purify the air you breathe in your home or at the office.
Technology
New burners are much more efficient than their predecessors, making them more economical. What’s more, some of today’s new heating systems no longer require a conventional chimney to operate, a significant savings on installation costs.

Heating Oil 1: stove oil
Heating oil #1 (stove oil) is used mainly in outdoor tanks or for auxiliary heating appliances such as oil stoves and floor furnaces (oil convectors).
*Fuel oil #1 tanks can be installed outdoors, given its high resistance to cold.
Heating Oil 2: furnace oil
Heating oil #2 (furnace oil) is the most widely used, being suitable for many different types of equipment on the market, including all central hot-water and hot-air heating systems.
*Heating oil #2 tanks must be located indoors, as this product is less fluid in winter.

Residential Oil-burning furnace regulations
As of December 31, 2021, the installation of new oil heating systems in Quebec homes is prohibited, and as of December 31, 2023, repairing oil heating systems over 20 years old is prohibited, with a few exceptions.
